Privacy notice
Updated September 15, 2026
This notice explains the information used by ForeStrokes at forestrokes.com, an invitation-only golf scorekeeping app.
Information we use
- Account information. Clerk handles sign-in. When you choose Google, Google and Clerk provide identity information such as your account identifier, name, email address and profile image. ForeStrokes stores an account identifier, email, display name and handle to associate you with rounds. Google sign-in requests only basic identity, email and profile information; it does not request access to Gmail messages, contacts, Drive files or calendars.
- Golf records. We store the course and round details, player names, scores, handicap relationships, group game calculations and round attestations you submit. These records support scorecards, history, group ledgers and shared rounds. Invitations can retain the email address or handle entered by the inviting player. Course details from finalized rounds can contribute to shared course templates.
- Photos and camera access. If you choose camera proof, your browser asks for camera permission. Hand tracking runs on your device. The selected proof image, including overlaid player names and capture time, is uploaded when you save; live camera video is not streamed to ForeStrokes. Proof images are kept in private storage and are not included on public round pages.
- Optional location. Nearby joining uses location with your browser's permission. A round created for nearby joining can store its latitude and longitude. Nearby searches send your position to the service to find matching rounds. Other signed-in users can read open rounds with location enabled, including their saved coordinates; proximity restricts nearby joining, not all viewing. You can decline or revoke location permission.
- Device storage and service records. Your browser stores session information, cached assets and an unfinished-round snapshot, which can include a captured image. Signing out does not automatically erase these local snapshots or cached API responses. Optional scorecard scanning processes the image on your device using OCR software that downloads supporting files from jsDelivr. Hosting and authentication services process connection and security information, such as IP addresses, and the app logs request identifiers, methods, timing and error status/messages to operate and troubleshoot the service.
How information is used and shared
We use information to sign you in, save and resume rounds, connect players, calculate results, provide sharing and protect the service. Clerk provides authentication; Cloudflare hosts the app, database and private image storage. Google processes your Google sign-in under its own privacy policy. ForeStrokes does not sell Google user data or use it for advertising. Use of information received from Google APIs follows the Google API Services User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements.
Other signed-in players can find account handles and display names and see round information according to their access. A join code or invitation link lets another signed-in player find and join an eligible round. Share these only with the people you intend to invite.
Public round links: anyone who receives a finalized round's sharing link can see player names, course and date, scores, attestations and timestamp status. They may copy or forward the link. Public round pages do not include your email, account handle, location or proof photo.
When a permanent timestamp is requested, a cryptographic hash of the round record is sent to OpenTimestamps calendar services. The app does not send the underlying scorecard or photo to those services. A resulting public blockchain timestamp cannot be removed by ForeStrokes.
Retention and your choices
Saved rounds and uploaded images remain stored until removed by the operator; this beta does not have automatic expiry or a self-service deletion tool. For access, correction, export or deletion requests, contact bagman08142025@gmail.com from the email associated with your account. We may need to confirm your identity. Requests involving shared rounds may also affect other players' records.
You can revoke Google access in your Google Account, disable camera or location permission in your browser, and clear the site's local storage. Revoking access or clearing browser storage does not delete previously saved server records. Copies made by recipients and permanent public timestamps cannot be recalled; operational backups may retain earlier copies for a period after removal.
Security and updates
ForeStrokes uses authenticated access for private app records and private image storage. No online service can guarantee absolute security. Contact us if you believe information has been exposed. Changes to this notice will be posted here with an updated date.
